I'm fascinated by the challenge of working with abstract non-objective form to explore and translate thoughts, feelings, and intuitions into unfamiliar objects in my external landscape. Shadows are an important aspect of these linear forms. They exist in the two-dimensional reality of the piece, changeable over time and in varying light conditions.
No. 6 is worked in 14K gold-filled wire and sheet, multi-colors of niobium wires, and a small jade, tourmaline, and chrysoprase. It measures 13" L x 3" H x 7" W. It's shown lying flat here, but it can also hang.
As a sculptor I've worked with welded steel and aluminum, cast bronze, stone, wood, clay, fibers, plastics, fluorescent lights etc. Working with various wires and gems in my jewelry designs, I enjoy using these materials for some of my linear sculptural ideas as well.
