May - Curator Sarah Fillmore with Jacques Hurtubise

Jacques Hurtubise is best known as a Quebec abstract painter from the generation following that of the plasticiens. The Hurtubise exhibition included over 60 paintings and prints and provided a definitive overview of this key figure in abstract art's history. Born in Montreal in 1939, Jacques Hurtubise lives and works in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Not only did Sarah Fillmore curate this stunning exhibition she also authored a 275-page bilingual full colour book on the life and work of Jacques Hurtubise. It is published by Goose Lane Editions and is now available at the Gallery Shop and in all good book stores across Canada.
