Sea Otter, Enhydra lutris

The sea otter population was estimated to be between 150,000 and 300,000 before hunting and human-caused pollution, such as oil from oil spills and the huge areas of floating garbage and plastic debris known as the five gyres, reduced there numbers to 1,000-2,000 individuals.Their population is slowly recovering in some areas of the world's ocean, but they are still listed as an endangered species.
