It took me a long while to locate Supreme, I wanted to give him a copy of the first picture I took of him. Everyone in Hunts point knew him, but not where he stayed. When I eventually found him, at the "junkyard". When he saw that I had brought a copy of his first photo, Supreme and Obama, he gave me a big bear hug. Always engaging, stylish, and proud he insisted on many more pictures.
Since this picture he has had major surgery (infected hernia), landing in Lincoln hospital for weeks. Prior to surgery he was living on the streets, all his possessions in a cart, which where taken away. He also lost his dog Obama, taken to a shelter.

Great Photo! I wish we knew what happened to Obama..as everyone knows, the NYCACC is a HIGH KILL shelter! You can find the photos, stories and faces of the beautiful animals here www.facebook.com/Urgentdeathrowdogs.Most of them being "pit bulls". The sad fact is, alot of these dogs/cats live loving lives with owners such as Supreme (even if it is on the streets) and can be surrendered or taken away at any time, only given 48-72 hrs to live usually before being euthanized since nobody adopted them. I am an active pit bull advocate and try and help with the rescues of these fur babies from the high kill shelters of NYC.

And I bet his dog Obama is now dead. PItbulls aren't easily adoptable dogs even though they're fantastic. I am so sad for them both. What an awful situation.

Poor Obama - I hope he's okay - I don't know if NYC puts down pups right away. Sad, sad, epic sadness.

I love this whole series Chris, you have a real talent with people.

I'm so sad that he lost every possession that he had in his shopping cart, and they also took his dog (probably to euthanize). They gave each other love when no others would. Just devastating.

It's sad that he lost his dog... for most people, their pet is all they have. I wish I could somehow find him another dog, or cat. This made me sad. :/

When I first seen your photo 'Supreme and Obama' I thought to myself that it was too bad that his life was so bad but why was putting his dog through that too? I know that Obama loved him more than anything and being homeless meant nothing to Obama just so he was with Supreme but I still felt for the dog. Now I feel bad for Supreme having lost Obama, the only thing in his life that he probably truly treasured. Hopefully Obama was adopted or at the least picked up by a no kill shelter or rescue. If he was I am sure that he will always remember Supreme and miss him but at the same time I hope that Obama get's the chance to live what we humans consider a good dog's life. Your work is amazing btw, I'd be surprised if big house publishers haven't yet approached you.
