Don’t underestimate the power of your gear to influence your work. It’s a traditional view that equipment is relatively unimportant compared with photographic talent, that a great photographer can take a great picture, no matter how lowly the available tools might be. I can’t argue with that. Any given maestro could no doubt produce more interesting work from his Nokia than I’d manage with a Nikon. But what if you gave him the latest, most versatile equipment? There’s no question he’d produce more varied and better quality work. Obvious, yes, but one view of the development of photography is as a series of creative bursts, each punctuated by the best photographers being inspired by new equipment and its new possibilities. This is happening today, and tomorrow. – Andy Robinson (Nikon Pro editor)

As I have practiced it, photography produces pleasure by simplicity, I see something special and show it to the camera. A picture is produced. The moment is held until someone sees it. Then it is theirs. Photography, alone of the arts, seems perfected to serve the desire humans have for a moment -- this very moment -- to stay. - Sam Abell
