Settlers

Settlers by .Ariel.
A few months back, we starting playing Settlers of Catan with Cienna & Preston. I liked it, and when Dre got laid off I asked his sister (who runs the family toy shop in Missoula) if maybe she could hook us up with our own copy of the game.

Now? WE ARE SETTLING FIENDS.

I still suck at the strategy part, but I'm slowly getting better. I can tell this is going to be a great accessory to hibernation/hermiting season.

One of my fondest memories of our house in Columbia City was having people over for Settlers and other euro games. Lately we're playing Agricola and Race for the Galaxy.

For just the two of you try Lost Cities, Kahuna, Caesar and Cleopatra or the Settlers card game. I like funagaingames.com if you cannot find them locally.

I love that Settlers keeps finding new players. That may be the best thing about this recession - more board gaming!

I totally get my addictive freak on about board games.
They are just so DANG exciting.
Unfortunately, I get so ridinkulously excitable about playing, hunky man refuses to play with me anymore.
Can't wait to Christmas to have house guest to inflict my boarding game desires upon :D

Ooh, Will: I've been hearing about Lost Cities for AGES and actually asked my sister-in-law if she had a copy in stock (she didn't). I need to get it!

I suck at this game strategy-wise too, but I still think it's fun to play! :)

Settlers is the best! Another good-for-two game is Carcassonne. Chris and I play almost every day! Lost Cities is also good, but in my opinion, not nearly as good as Carcassonne.

I love Carcassonne. Alex used to be really into playing Settlers with his friends, so I think you've just given me a Christmas gift idea :-)

I don't know how it will go between you and Dre, but here Dawn pretty much can't be beat at card based games (like Lost Cities). And I do better at tile games, like Settlers.

I have yet to play Carcassonne. Need to try it out.

Steve and I are always down for the Euro-type games. We have some of our own, including Carcassonne, Empire Builder (and some variants), and Robo Rally (one of the geekiest of all).

Play more nerdy German games with Kate! I used to play games with Kate and Steve and miss it terribly -- I have yet to find reliable gamers out here (not in the tabletop RPG sense, in the wants-to-play-Settlers-constantly sense). I also recommend TransAmerica along with Carcassonne. You may also like Puerto Rico.
