You are the empire

A few of my favorite Microsoft coworkers, rocking their "I am the empire" tees.

I'm not pro/anti Apple/Linux/Microsoft. But I don't get the "I am the empire" slogon. I see the smart marketing in the "I am a PC" campaign and I think it works, but how to you make "empire" cool outside the context of Star Wars?

By breaking the empire into it's individual parts, you see that it's no so evil after all. See?

I've worked at MSFT and I have never before (or after) been surrounded by such a group of smarter people. But I read "I am the empire" as "I am with Darth Vader and part of the evil black shirt empire so there!" and NOT "look, empire isn't a bad word, really, see it's made up of a bunch of smart people."

Maybe it's the black shirt + the word empire. And probably it's me ;)

All I know is that the "I am the empire" shirts are beyond popular with MSFT employees ... we just printed up 1000 more for use by recruiters!
