Beware Quicksand

Beware Quicksand

The "Beware Quicksand" sign tied between the other two posts was originally up off the ground. Not a place to hang around.

Photographed in the appropriately named Cain's Folly on the Dorset coast near Charmouth. A good place to go hunting fossils, with a high chance of becoming one yourself.

Salcombe

Salcombe

Salcome is just inside the mouth of the Kingsbridge Estuary. This estuary is unusual as no major river flows into it, just a number of small brooks.

Spotlight on Yellowmeade Farm

Spotlight on Yellowmeade Farm

Yellowmeade Farm was on sale in May 2010 with 70 acres of land for £625,000. It stands at an elevation of 400m and has no electricity supply and the water comes from a leat. In the words of the Telegraph,"You really do not have to spend a fortune to find a hideaway".

Someone must have bought it, for last year I saw it with the roof off undergoing major renovation. I hope they fully appreciate what winter on an exposed west facing slope at this elevation means.

It stands in the shadow of the TV mast on North Hessary Tor.

Vixen Tor Wall

Vixen Tor Wall

Vixen Tor, once one of the most popular tors to visit, has been out of bounds since a new owner bought the land in 2002.

Out of a total of 326 Tors, 19 are currently inaccessible.

Widecombe Fields

Widecombe Fields

About time I did an early morning infrared. Although early morning is not so early this time of year.
