Pond Inlet - Dive Trip

Pond Inlet - Dive Trip

Here is the crack in the sea ice leading up to the iceberg. Looks promising..promising meaning the crack is wide enough to get a diver and his/her tanks through it.
The crack in the ice does not move (get smaller or bigger) but has been stationary for quite some time as you can see from the snow drifts in them. We clear the snow where we want to dive and then go see the world below...

Mike tending the line that all divers are tethered to. Fortunately there was little to no current and the dive was enjoyable and moving for all.

In the words of the divers after the dive:
"I had a conversation with the apostle Paul when I was down there" - AM
"I think I am going to become a poet and write a poem" -NC
"That was by far the best dive of my life" - JC

With Huge ice walls, sloping ramps and bulges of ice that looked dimpled like a golf ball, tunnels, caverns lit up in turquise blue to shades of purple the dive is the pinnacle of ice diving. Best of all, the viz was a few hundred feet and you could see forever. Underwater pics to come in a few weeks....
