South Falls, Silver Falls State Park, Oregon

South Falls, Silver Falls State Park, Oregon

Took a couple of days and hiked Central Oregon. Was one of my best trips so far. The weather was overcast and SO PERFECT for chasing waterfalls... Silver Falls State Park is great during Fall as well, I hope to visit again sometime, maybe this year

Hare Creek at Limekiln State Park

Hare Creek at Limekiln State Park

A wonderful state park at Big Sur, with a beautiful creek that has a good flow this time of the year running through a dense and cool redwood forest. I especially liked the clover patch in the foreground in this one, hopefully you like the composition too. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the image.

For more images of this location, please check out the web gallery on my website at:

This image was shot with a 16-85mm VR Nikon lens and a Hoya Circular Polarizer filter. The shot was steady with the help of a tripod.

Calla Lilies along Highway 1

Calla Lilies along Highway 1

This is along Highway1, past Carmel where Calla Lilies bloom each year around this time. The blooms weren't peak when I visited but hopefully the rains this week could help. I will try to visit again after that.

Seal colony at Ano Nuevo State Park

Seal colony at Ano Nuevo State Park

Ano Nuevo State Park is located in between Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay on Highway 1. Every year hundreds of seals and sea lions come back from their summer trips to Alaska back to Ano Nuevo to breed between December and March. Elephant seals are the highlight here but there are also harbor seals, california sea lions and stellar sea lions present on the beaches of Ano Nuevo.

Its quite a scene to see these adult bulls fighting with each other and the pups trying to survive the ordeal so they can fatten up and get into the ocean. These are quite the diving machines, they can dive to 1000 feet on an average and can stay under water for more than an hour before they surface up for another recharge and dive back again.

Went here on Saturday, this place can only be visited by booking in advance during the peak season (Dec – Mar) for a guided walk, they do this to preserve the refuge for these wonderful animals, since the walks get sold out quite a bit, I had to book 2 months in advance without knowing what the weather is going to be like, but luckily it was quite nice

Palo Alto Baylands, birds...

Palo Alto Baylands, birds...

After 2 weeks of rains, Saturday was nice, although cold. I headed out to both Sanborn Skyline County Park and to Palo Alto Baylands to satisfy my photography needs :)

It was freezing cold, windy by the bay but the birds were willing to pose, so no complaints. The sun was setting, so couldn't take shots of birds in flight, but thats another reason to visit again.
