Goodbye Soots

Soots passed away peacefully late last night, lying on my lap.

We only had him for a bit over three months, but he had symptoms of heart problems when I got him from the RSPCA animal shelter, so he did well considering. He was bright right up until the last few days.

When you get older animals from animal shelters, like Soots, there is always the possibility you won't have very long with them. That puts a lot of people off adopting them. I'm not going to say that can't be hard, because it can... but it's truly worth it. Soots would not have lasted as long in the shelter, nor would he have had the joy of a home for his last few months.

I was able to give him that, and he gave me a lot of fun and happiness in return. I'm the better for having known him, even if only for a few months.

Rest in peace Soots, I'll miss you.
