A Fairy's Perspective
Fairy Falls - Columbia River Gorge
The view from a tiny wire tripod can be so completely different than a standard one, where you're forced to see the world from at least a foot in the air. I brought out the mini yesterday while a friend was borrowing my larger prop, and had a marvelous time seeing the world from an inch or two above the ground. It's particularly fun with the 10mm, where you almost can't avoid looking like you're immersed in your foreground (my favorite example of that is here at Lake Tahoe). It's a good reminder that your whole photographic style can be changed radically at different levels.
Fairy Falls is a particular favorite of mine (probably 4th in my lineup), because it truly lives up to the magical nature of its name. The delicacy of each level and layer of the rocks and moss is exquisite, and even in summer (like this), the delicacy is only accentuated by less water. Such a beautiful place.
