Teddy Bear sunflower

Teddy Bear sunflower by Aqua-Marina.
These amazing flowers were in a large vase in the Ladies Cloakroom at Tresco Abbey Gardens Visitor Centre. Each bloom was nearly 12" across! Aren't they stunning?

Very nice. They are somewhat difficult to grow though, at least in San Francisco. I planted a number of seeds, but only got a few plants that survived. I did get one to grow in the Sunset Community Garden (13 blocks from the Pacific Ocean.) Lost the picture when my computer recently crashed, though. So I was happy to see your shot! They are a lovely, LOVELY flower!

Thank you
Yes, they are lovely and endearingly shaggy.
Sunflowers seem to be easy enough to grow here as long as you can stake them and protect them from the wind. I've seen them 12ft tall!
