House Martin and Nests

House Martin and Nests by Aqua-Marina.
This was a fluke shot because the nests were tucked right up underneath the eaves. To get it, I had to contort myself over a washbasin in one of our apartment bathrooms, hold my camera out of the window, point it in the general direction of the nests (because I couldn't see the viewfinder) and snap off several shots. It was pure chance that one of the house martins was returning to the nest as I snapped. I couldn't do much about the colours because the contrasts were very strong but I cropped it and sharpened it just a touch.

Why thank you!
Our house martins left the islands on October 1st and I miss their chirping and acrobatic flying. Hopefully they'll return again next year.

What a lucky shot - I'd love to see you contorting yourself for this capture.
