I finally had time last week to make my first proper picture of my newest addition to the stable. I got it Christmas Eve and so far all it had was a cell phone photo - not quite good enough so I made this one with the Olympus EP3 and the 12mm lens.

Yes - this is a real place. I went inside. They do indeed sell things designed to kill zombies. Only in Vegas.

Lytro Light Field Camera

Here you go ladies and gents. This is the first Lytro Light Field Camera. I got my hands on one today and all I can say is that if you can open your mind, and think in new ways, you'll see that there is amazing potential in this device. We're a few years away from the technology reaching a point where most heavy duty enthusiasts will think of this as a "pro" camera but to ignore it until then might be a mistake. And for those who worry about the photographer being replaced by the light field's ability to focus in post - forget it. The photographer will need to be more skilled than ever to get the best images.

I'll have more on this camera at Photofocus.com soon.

Unbelievable - right out of the camera. Olympus E-P3, 45mm lens, ISO 200, f/1.8 (yep wide open) 1/90th sec on an Induro tripod with Induro ball head.
