Stop pressing the snooze button
What are we doing?
It's time to wake up. See the beauty in the world and its people; try to do something about its ugliness and injustice.
We want 5 more minutes, then 5 more, and then 5 more until we realize the entire morning has gone. So we rush to do things we have to, and in doing so are oblivious to the world around us. We forget the sea in the sky and do not see as the leaf flutters to the ground. We walk past that homeless person maybe throwing him extra change. But what are we doing really?
When time is gone, and when we have to return to the earth from which we came... what will we take with us? Not possessions, but the difference we made in the lives of others. That is our legacy.

Awe
"He didn't know why he went there. But he walked and walked until he arrived by the water. He sat and watched as the sun melted into the sea. Something stirred in him- he didn't know what exactly- but he lowered his head in shame and cried. He cried over words spoken, feelings unspoken, the injustices he saw too numerous to count. With his head still lowered, he whispered a final prayer, carried to the heavens by the same gentle breeze that dried his tears"

Gaza is dying.. but no one seems to be answering
Gaza has been under constant bombardment for 9 days. Over 2,800 people have been injured, and over 460 are dead.
The US has once again voiced support for the genocidal acts of its ally Israel, and has blocked any Security Council action to call for a ceasefire, claiming that Israel must be protected. One would hear that assuming Hamas has the same firepower as Israel. In total, 4 Israelis have died on the towns bordering Gaza. In Tel Aviv, people are surfing and playing with their children as normal. This is NOT an equal situation.
And in case anyone starts with the bull that Hamas has started this, it was actually Israel that violated the so-called 'truce' (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/7709603.stm). So anyone claiming Israel has a right to self-defense better get the facts straight.
It is claimed that over 100 of the 465 killed are civilians, but the number is likely to be more, as civilians are calculated as only women and children. Non-combatant men are not included in the civilians figure.
An Israeli rep claimed that the UN has said there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza, while only two weeks ago, the Times reported that some Gazans were resorting to eating grass (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/article5338014.ece). If this was a fortnight ago, what is the situation now? Christopher Gunness responded to the Israeli statement by saying that it is ABSURD. There is a humanitarian crisis. Patients are being treated in the corridors of the hospitals. People carry their dead away in cardboard boxes because there are no sheets.
Everyone has a duty to EDUCATE THEMSELVES. Look at what has been going on- do not believe the "we have pulled out of Gaza" crap (they were controlling the air, sea, and what went in and out of Gaza) and the blatant lies. The more people know, the more people can be angry, the more pressure we can put on our governments to put an end to this madness.
And for anyone who believes civilians are not bearing the brunt of this massacre, all you have to do is search youtube. What you'll find is shocking. Moreover, a Norweigan doctor at Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza said, Israel says they are targeting Hamas, but all I see in the hospital are civilians.
We all have a duty to do SOMETHING
ATTEND THE PROTESTS IN YOUR CITY
WRITE TO YOUR LOCAL MEDIA
WRITE TO YOUR ELECTED RESPRESENTATIVES: In the UK, www.writetothem.com
DONATE: www.map-uk.org
RAISE AWARENESS
This is the very least we can do. We CANNOT be silent.
