Ridiculous

Ok. so it was Labor Day, but this amount of garbage is ridic. The fire/police call stand does not seem pleased. Garbage can is sporting a lovely, stenchy bouffant. Not as fabulous as Kate and Cindy. Also Fred Schneider is not talking overmusic about the garbage, but whateva.
This wasn't confined to this one corner either, the garbage bags were piled as tall as I am. Now, I may be a tiny person, but come on. Also, the streets and sidewalks were blanketed in this mess.
I bet the end of Labor Day don't look like this on the Upper East Side.

I suppose it gives some people jobs. Someone gets paid to clean it up. I used to think "How Awful" until a friend reminded me of the people earning their bread and butter cleanng it up. Now that's a ...the glass is half full sort of moment isn't it.

Oh, sanitation workers in this city get a nice nice salary, holidays, benefit, etc.
They certainly deserve all of that and more.

The city also seems to care less about trash removal in poor neighborhoods, as anything else. At least the rats on the streets problem isn't as bad here, as some other neighborhoods.

I agree. And I lived there for five years.

I also enjoy how anachronistic the fire thing looks. In fact, in a way, it's the everything else around that fire thing that has sort of become the anachronism, instead. New York is still one of the world's great cities, but in many ways, it's nothing like as great as it once was.
