Golden Gate Bridge 75th Anniversary

Golden Gate Bridge 75th Anniversary

After battling my way through traffic in SF for almost 2 hours, I got up to the Marin Headlands almost 5 hours before the fireworks. I almost wish that I had gotten there earlier. I hike up Slacker Ridge with a few other photographers and when we got to the top, the party had already started!

I shared this once-in-a-lifetime experience with many friends, both new and old, and I'm very glad that I braved the wind and cold to get this shot.

Prints are available for purchase here: gallery.anvilimage.com/Anvil-Image-Creations-HDR-and/HDR-... .

Psst! Here's 25% off Friends and Family coupon good for this image and any others in the gallery - AnvilFF25. Good until June 15, 2012!

El Arco de Cabo San Lucas

El Arco de Cabo San Lucas

It was a bit of an adventure to see this landmark and, unfortunately, the last one of our trip. More here: anvilimage.com/2011/04/15/el-arco-de-cabo-san-lucas/

Exit Only

Exit Only

My girlfriend and I celebrated Valetine's Day this year by staying at the Palace Hotel up in San Francisco. On our way back to the car to leave, I spotted this spiraling ramp in the garage and knew that I wanted to shoot it. Laura puts up with so much and waited patiently in the car as I retrieved my camera and tripod to shoot .

I grabbed a 3 shot bracket and ended up blending the layers together by hand. Then I added contrast, turned down the vibrance, fixed the geometry a little, cropped it and I had a winner, literally. Check out the details here: anvilimage.com/2011/03/26/ppgba-print-competition-update/

Crossing Over

Crossing Over

It was pretty comical the first time that I tried to shoot this bridge that crosses Hwy 280 in Cupertino, CA, with my buddy Paul. I had just finished polishing off a couple of tacos when I turned away from the truck in the parking to start walking up the hill to the bridge. As I looked up at the blowing bridge up on the hill, the lights all went dark. Oh well, 10pm - lights out!

I made sure that I made it back there just a bit earlier the next time that I wanted to shoot it.

Image Info: I shot a 3 image bracket intending to put together a tonemapped HDR for this image but instead blended the exposures using the exposure fusing function in Photomatix. I hand blended some other bits to clean things up and made final adjustments in LR3. This image scored an 84 in a print competition at my local PPA affiliate, PPGBA.

Visit anvilimage.com/2011/03/26/ppgba-print-competition-update/ to see the other image that I also entered the same night that scored higher... :)

Girls' Night on the Town

Girls' Night on the Town

One night I decided that I had to take my shot at trying to capture SF's iconic Painted Ladies (aka The Seven Sister's) just like everyone else, but I was hoping to put my own twist on it. Really though, this is the shoot that almost didn't happen. Parking can be a real bitch! Read more about it here: anvilimage.com/2011/02/10/san-francisco-seven-sisters-gir...
