The annual 2009 "bollekes" beer festival
( www.bollekesfeest.be ) is celebrated by a crowd of 100,000
during a three day weekend at the end of August 2009.

The opening on Friday Aug 21 featured free beer for an hour, along with the entire city council and Mayor throwing chocolates in the form of small hands,
an ancient tradition.
