Big Boochil, Really Wee Boochil & A Cooker

Large & On Black

Just a bit of fun for Alex Boyd's group - Scotland Is NOT a Postcard.

L to R Creag Dubh, Stob na Doire & Stob Dearg (Buachaille Etive Mor) & Beinn a Chrulaiste from Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Scotland.

The 'really wee boochil' is obviously no more than a small rock. The cooker is a photographic aid I carry around when I'm short on foreground interest, I'm furious as I left it there right on the moor and forgot to pick it back up. Hopefully it'll still be there next time I'm up.

Nanos Gigantum Humeris Insidentes

I knew those hours of Latin practice with Jesuit Priests would come in handy one day ;-)

Its been a while since I done a long lens landscape. I might have posted a wider version but the photographer who arrived 10 minutes after me at the same spot, walked in front of where I was shooting and then back into my shot, kinda spoiled them all.

Feckin' Sasunnach !

Joking, he was actually a nice guy albeit, English a little inconsiderate.

Upturned car on A82 in Glencoe at the foot of Stob Dearg, Buachaille Etive Mor. The driver hit a patch of black ice on the un-gritted road, lost control and veered across the opposing side of the road before ending up as you see here.

In the words of Sergeant Phil - Hey, let's be careful out there !

A Sight For Sore Eyes by antsplan

A Sight For Sore Eyes

Appin Rocks, Airds Bay, Lynn of Lorn, Scotland

Large/ Black

I got back from London actually a day earlier than I had originally planned, well just after 10pm actually. i could see from the forecasts that there was potential for a shoot that weekend in Scotland.

Despite being absolutely exhausted (i was so tired my eyes were stinging) when that phone call came through from David, I knew there was only one place I was going to be the next morning - 'up North'.

It was a funny day, pretty unplanned but we took it as it came. Towards the end of the day we had a decision to make, last light at Glen Etive or move around to the coast, shoot Stalker and maybe a sunset at Appin.

Tails won and it was off to the coast.

We had been to Appin before but perhaps a little late as we witnessed a sublime sunset but without being able to find anything to make a picture. We got there a little earlier this time but again unable to find any real elements of interest.

I think it was the first time of doing any 'real' landscape photography for both of us for quite some time and we'd had a great day so decided just to forget the cameras and simply stand and enjoy what was happening around us.

Imagine the scene, I'm standing where this shot is taken from. David is where I am in this picture and it suddently dawned on me, theres the picture there !

i fired off a few shots of David we swapped places and he shot this one of me.

Get this though, Stanton shot my Nikon and in this pic i'm standing over his 1DS mkIII. Now there is a scene you wont see everyday ;-)

thanks Davie.

God, I love Scotland.

Loch Ard Jetty & Rock by antsplan

Loch Ard Jetty & Rock

www.anthonybrawley.co.uk

Loch Ard Jetty, Kinlochard, Scotland

Worth a look, large and on black

Architecture, street, people shots, etc are all very well and good, but its moments and places like this that really make me tick. This is why I own a camera.

Due to a xmas party last night, I had to be back early, which meant going away had to be a lot closer to home yesterday. Fuelled by a double sausage and scone from the superb Aberfoyle butchers we headed to Loch Ard and found this wee jetty. It was beautiful but the light was flat and not a lot happening.

I decided to take the time to experiment with my rarely used ndx1000 filter. I thought it was gubbed and wanted to use Davids to prove it off.

So with my own ndx1000 on I fired off a few shots, then the sun appeared right in the middle of a long exposure. I had no idea what the correct exposure was so guessed at 60 secs and this popped out the camera.

This image that you see is pretty much exactly what was on the camera, its a single file which has had some contrast applied, dust spots removed and sharpening for web (plus the frame etc).

I could easily remove the flare but I actually think it adds to the shot.

I guess the ndx1000 is ok...
