Syrians and non-Syrians, together on camels, trekking through the hot desert in Palmyra. This was a two day hiking trip we took in early November 2010. We spent the night in the dessert and bathed in natural sulfur springs the next day!

This was the view from our balcony onboard the ship one evening. It was magnificent.

lessons take 3 days before you can go out solo, but this looks like it's worth it. When I asked the instructor whether we can go out with only a few hours of lessons his response was, "do you want to die?"
