Lipsynch
9 stories, 9 actors, 9 hours. It was good - great!, if not a coup de theatre. A bit like gorging on a The Wire box set.
Unfortunately, the slickest set pieces are at the beginning, with several filler stories in the middle (one necessary to further the plot, one - a funeral - to act as comic relief). It could have been tightened considerably, but I'm unsure if it should - maybe an hour lopped off would have helped. Unfortunately, the extremely ambitious modular set and subtitling system were (understandably) sloppy, especially at the end. They may say the play is about sound, speech and language (and these bits were interesting - and pretty much disappeared in the last third when they felt they had to wrap up the story) but it's mainly about loss. Loss of innocence, at that. It is an ambitious story, spanning tens of years and multiple family generations. Glad I did it, not sure I'd do it again. CommentsAshley Pomeroy

Also, five intervals = british people getting drunk early, and others arriving for the last half, not making head nor tail of it, and leaving.
