Oh well. My 'easy small nemesis' ended up as a sloppy mess. Pretty much everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong - I misread the recipe, and put things in in the wrong order, I didn't have a baking tray big enough too use as a bain marie for my cake tin, so ended up using a bowl within a bowl, and my cooker doesn't go low enough for the recipe.

Needless to say, this didn't turn out well. At least I now have a bowlful of something between mousse and pudding to eat.

Next time I'll try their 15 minute cake, which seems similar to the chocolate oblivion recipes on some food blogs I've seen, or the chocolate torte, that just fridges.

Or maybe I'll learn that the River Cafe Easy generally isn't easy and makes far more washing up than any other cookboook I've got.

Though the River Cafe one has less instruction than this, and tells you to bake it for 50 minutes at 120 degrees C / Gas Mark 1/2 - which my oven doesn't go down to!

(this (see the comments) is the original uneasy version that has ruined many a dinner party)

Interesting....so it's basically a flourless chocolate cake that's baked in a bain marie. It should be a really easy cake to make so, given the reviews of the book and the legend of the nemesis itself seems to have around the net, I'd guess it's the recipe and not the baker at fault. I'll do a little bit of research and try later in the week when I have time. :)
