bag 2012
I put some text in the notes.
back in the city, still waiting for the snow to arrive in this part of the country. things haven't changed much since last week. many subjects remain to be done. I don't have the time (or rather don't take the time) to go out and shoot new photos. nevertheless, I accomplished to take my first picture in 2012 and it's the annual edition my bag and its contents. 2011 looked like this.
the description to all items can be found in the notes.
apart from that I'm anticipating the weekend and next week(s) with La Ligue returning from the winter break and the Australian Open taking place. busy with studying stuff I hope I'll be able to catch some good matches. probably I'll just reduce the time of watching Woody Allen films, which has been my leisure time pleasure for a few days now.
by the way: I compiled a mixtape with some new songs, old songs, very old songs and songs that are somewhere in between. you can find it here by clicking the title.

forget about those melting ice caps
song: Sunday
I started this series (the photos with the black framing) with a picture that reminded me of the album cover of Bloc Party's A weekend in the city. it seems I manoeuvred myself away from that after the second photo already bared little resemblance anymore.
with this one I still stick to the concept a last time, although I don't see it fit in the series too well and think that it would be better off with another title, completely detached. but, okay. you can interpret it as me slowly losing interest in urbanisation and Bloc Party again, which I do.
it's just that there are so many other things, which are more important to me these days. for example, I'm sick of the way the web 2.0 functions with no more discourse and discussions going on. people just seem to speak up, if they like something, or rather: they don't speak up at all, they just press buttons without much thinking and repeat the same phrases again and again and again. right now, the web 2.0 is a big dump full of show offs with no reflection of content going on; it's blind copying. anyway, I'll probably write some longer texts about these things.
besides that, I invested some time for books last week. with over a dozen new exemplars for Christmas I probably have to do so. as well, I couldn't manage to read Swann's way in 2011 (due to time running away), but I'll definitely try again in 2012.
also, I still have to do "some stuff" (a shitload full of work) for university. besides that, my thoughts waltz around some ideas and concepts of psychology and philosophy. I attempt not to stumble as I don't know the steps very well, but I try.
however, today's the first day of the new year and although I couldn't care less, it's a convenient possibility to mention my list of favourite albums of 2011, I guess. you can find it here.
eventually, speaking of photography again, I edited some old Berlin and Marseille photos and probably upload them within the next weeks. maybe I'll take a "what's in your bag" shot again and start a tradition, and perhaps perhaps perhaps I'll digress from the idea of only posting new stuff once per week.

auf Wiesen, Bäumen, Wegen
song: Connected
wo komm ich eigentlich her?
wo komm ich eigentlich her?
wo komm ich eigentlich her?
was soll ich eigentlich dort?
was soll ich eigentlich dort?
was soll ich eigentlich dort?
was soll ich eigentlich sagen?
was soll ich eigentlich sagen?
was soll ich eigentlich sagen?
Leopoldstadt Connection. mach dir nix draus.
Swimming Pool Connection. fisch mich raus.

a self-portrait
song: de leven
next Sunday (or probably earlier than that) you'll find here another picture of my forest series and in a fortnight perhaps a last shot of my thin urbanisation set (not too sure about that one yet). for today it is yet again a photo of my "sitting at home and playing with camera" set. also, I thought, a self-portrait would be a good opportunity to take up the custom of scribbling some lines of text in addition to the photo.
concerning this picture, there is one bit of information to share. I'm still an amateur of photography. playing around with light and shades made me realise that my choice of settings happens completely haphazardly. most of the time I stick to the auto mode with the flash off and try to make the best out of it to capture something in front of my lens with a great amount of light and fast shutter speed. results barely turn out as I'd like them to be. hence, I press buttons and turn the wheel in a manner of perfect arbitrariness.
also, I'm still without equipment. I'm having my D80 for three and a half years now and the only addition to it is a remote control.
thus, if you have tips or just opinions, go ahead and occupy the comments section.
besides that, as I post my photos on a weekly basis, I can use this space to share my week. an unsensational week it has been. studying for a test (isn't the 22nd of December a extraordinarily beautiful date for such an occasion?) and meticulously working my way through a fantastic novel doesn't leave much spare time to use for snow adventures. although, if we were having snow by now, I'd probably be outside having fun and, like Linus, have a try at creating some sculptures or other things. however, until the first flakes ripple from the sky, I go on distracting and enjoying myself with a weekdaily dosage of In Treatment and some randomly interspersed episodes of Britain's finest humour. marvelous! besides that, I've spent my time waiting for Christmas parcels, seemingly lost due to the busiest time of the year. I'm still not too fond of the commercialisation season aka Advent. there have been newspaper articles and press releases for the last couple of weeks stating well going shopping weekends and a content market, while the Christkind had been fighting Santa and the Christmas bunny on television spots (it was taken off air). the contemplative time of year? inono, it's the contempt time of the year. I try to ignore it, have some tic tac (CHERRY flavour!) and think about more important issues.
I could write another longer paragraph about this week's startling football occurrences, but I spare you that for lack of great interest.
oh, and if you've got some time, have a look at this fantastic set (not mine) and get lost between all those creative ads.
