A Day On the Farm |
We spent this VERY warm Spring Saturday at Soil Born Farm in Sacramento. We bought some organic herbs and tomatoes for our garden and we had a great time! Read about Soil Born's mission below, or go to the website. Note: All photos in this set are best viewed "large." www.soilborn.org Soil Born Farm Urban Agriculture Project’s mission is to strengthen and support local food systems by educating youth and adults about food, nutrition, sustainable living and ecological farming; build relationships between farmers, consumers and educators; and contribute to food security in our Sacramento community. Our Project Goals Include the Following: Local Organic Food Production: To operate working urban organic farms that are accessible to the public, permanently protected for future generations, and that practice and promote responsible land stewardship. Healthy Food Education: Develop a model food and environmental education program focused on service and experiential learning in the outdoor world for youth and adults in Sacramento. Programming will include classes, hands-on workshops, tours, job training and youth leadership development. Food Access for All: Address food security needs by developing alternative food distribution and food donation programs that target our low income communities and undernourished populations. Reconnect: Bring people together to share the simple pleasures of living life in harmony with nature.
