parkour

parkour by torontofotobug.
Parkour (pron. IPA /paʁ.'kuʁ/, often abreviated to PK) is a physical discipline of French origin in which participants attempt to pass obstacles in the fastest and most direct manner possible, using skills such as jumping and climbing, or the more specific parkour moves. The obstacles can be anything in one's environment, so parkour is often seen practiced in urban areas because of many suitable public structures that are accessible to most people, such as buildings, rails and walls.

A traceur (/tʁa.'sœʁ/) is a participant of parkour.

My younger son is into parkour. This is one of his friends, at a meet. Running straight up a wall.

Gasp I love that parkour is now a world, I think back to my youth and feel sorry for that guy knew who used to bounce of walls. He must have felt he was the only one.

I love this.

I've seen people doing this, and wished I could do it, myself. I'd love to run up a wall some day. It's just so absurd. I'd do it just out of the blue, and weird people out on the street.

Fantastic. I've seen some shots of monks doing this, and there was a programme on television with some French guys running the rooftops around London. I think it was called Run London. Basically not for fat people.
You can blame the rock climbing for leading by bad example.

Videos of people in Eastern Europe running through abandoned, dilapitated housing projects are absolutely insane.

Talk about a sport that requires very little equipment. With tough feet, you could do it naked.

Great shot.

I dabble with Parkour as well. Unfortunately I'm not very fast so I generally get about 3 steps into it and then fail, but I'm a hardcore dabbler though.

I don't so much run up walls as bang my head against them.

(this is still so cool; I'd love to see someone do it.)

I heard about it some time ago, and saw some guys practicing in Paris but nowhere that impressive... I love the idea though, I remember when I was rock-climbing a lot, I did a couple of urban climbing expeditions (at night), was a lot of fun !
