Hooters Girls
I went to Hooters in 강남 today. This is the first Hooters I've ever set foot in. Of course I was familiar with the scantily clad Hooters Girl concept, but I didn't know that they would break out and do line-dancing every half hour. This is probably something that back in the States, I'd be totally bored and disgusted with, but somehow in Korea it comes off as... funny. I love their tagline, printed on the back of their tanktops: "Delightfully Tacky, Yet Unrefined." Even funnier? When one of the servers heard my companions (both Korean) and me speaking English, she came over and asked my friend's boyfriend if he could explain the meaning of the phrase on her shirt. He spent a good 5 minutes trying to come up with something tactful before giving up.
