At twilight, from the roof of the brand new, gleaming Times Square shopping mall in the Yeongdungpo district, you can see the lamps flicker on in the red light district below.

Times Square

I wonder how many Times Squares there are in the world now. I think this one is only the 2nd shopping mall in Seoul, after COEX.

I believe shopping mall architecture is meant to induce that disoriented "Where am I?" feeling so that shoppers can wander around aimlessly buying things and forgetting abut the outside world. After a few moments, I had a strange feeling that I could be in Hong Kong or Bangkok.

Lake view

Last month we went down to Jecheon to attend my friend's wedding. It was at Hotel on the Lake, a lakeside resort with a beautiful view.

On one end of the lake is a bungee jump. Just in case you're interested in that sort of thing....
