Monument Of Love - Taj Mahal.. Photoshopped ...EXPLORED # 6 on Aug 26
Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world.
The story behind it goes something like this.
The Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan ruled from 1628 to 1658 .He called his
wife Mumtaz Mahal or Crown of the Palace, because she was so precious
to him.
Mumtaz Mahal died in 1631, shortly after giving birth to her 14th
child. Her dying wish to Shah Jahan was that he should "build a
tomb in her memory such as the world had never seen before."
Shah Jahan fulfilled her wish, creating the most beautiful mausoleum
the world had ever seen.
After Shah Jahan's death in 1666 A.D., he too was laid to rest beside
his beloved Mumtaz Mahal. Their real tombs are in a basement of the
Taj Mahal. The two ornately decorated tombs on the ground floor,
sheltered by the dome of the Taj Mahal are part of the stylistic
design of this beautiful monument in Agra India.
FACTS :
1) It took 22 years for the Taj Mahal to be completed.
2) A huge labor force of 20,000 workers led by Muhammed Hanif, the
head of the masons and the Persian architect Ustad Isa or Ustad Ahmad
Lahauri, were employed in its construction.
3)Finished in 1648, the Taj Mahal cost the Mughal exchequer 32 million
rupees.
4)It is said, that after the completion of the construction, when
emperor Shah Jahan viewed the Taj, he ordered his men to cut off the
right hand of the master architect Ustad Isa, so the later may not be
able to erect such a stately and imposing edifice again in his life.
There's another legend that says Shah Jahan was contemplating to build
yet another Taj Mahal across the river in black marble.
The Taj Mahal has been described by the poet Sir Edwin Arnold, as"Not a piece of architecture, as other buildings are, but the proud passions of an emperor's love wrought in living stones."

is that sky real?........or photoshopped?

@Dave , Sofia ,sunuvagun,Jstone ..Thanks for appreciation.
@himank.....some selective hue, saturation and exposure adjustment is done in lightroom to add a bit of warmth and antiqueness to the pic.....This was shot some long time back with my Canon S3 IS .

very nice shot, I have seen this place in many pictures and other kind of images...but surely this is one of the best , for the composition , where there's nothing more than the monument , and also for the colours in the sky so evocative

... and they say we have to see the beauty of taj on full moon night!
Now I disagree with that :-)

@Pearceval,Crystal,Ladema,Alice : thank you for all the appreciation and encouragement . Thanks for always taking some time out for my photostream .. Taj is indeed very beautiful in real , this was just a glimpse of its majesty.
@Karrantza : thank you for rating it among the best . But i think all these pics , are just nothing as compared to the actual monument. Your mouth will surely open wide ,and you will be mesmerised by its beauty , when you see it in real .
@Skynet : Thank you very much . I wonder if i could attach with the pic - the Aura and the feeling , which i felt wen i saw TAJ for the first time , you would definitely favorite it 10 times :)
@ Tushant : Thank you very much sir . The Sky hue is bit adjusted here. But one thing is sure ,Taj would have witnessed much better evening skies than this .

So beautiful this wonder. Amazing that such a fantastic work could be accomplished in the era. I am upset that the hand of Ustad was ordered to be amputated after he designed this awesome creation!!
It takes some of the magic away. So brutal and unfair to the artist. Definately lower chakra energy. Sad, I never knew the story.
I honor the architects and workers who executed this awesome wonder of the world! I keep visualizing the shot with Princess Diana sitting in front grounds. She should have such a wonderous tomb also.
Thanks for sharing this, photo and story.

Just love this building and the (love) story about it!! My fave is the legend with the idea of an other black building..
Beautiful shot!!!

Very cool colors and nice composition. Lighting of the sky doesn't match the building though? Knowing how the Taj Mahal is oriented, the shadows on the building show morning but well after dusk and the building is side/front lit with a sundown/sunrise sky behind it. Intensity of light is greater near the horizon so it looks like the sky was shot straight into to the sun. Did you do lots of photoshop work on the sky or simply drop in a new sky? It looks like the latter.
dtedesco (46 months ago | reply)
This shot was taken later in the day but well before sunset. Light is diffused more but the angles show it closer to sunset than yours is to sunrise?
Anmol Bhalla (46 months ago | reply)
hey dude .. actually i ve done a bit of photoshop work over it .. more on the side of hue adjustment . .. the shot is taken during the day time .. no doubt .. but the hue is adjusted to the warmer side ..and so is the hue and saturation of the sky .. i just thought to present the Taj mahal like it is never seen before ..so the hue adjustments are the part of my imaginations .. :) ..
