      9pm curfew all summer!!!

That's gotta hurt. That's more than enough punishment in itself.

    8. Dropbear (45 months ago | reply)

Sounds fair to me ... Good to see the cops doing their job.

    9. ÄNKŁES (45 months ago | reply)

      Thanks for the all support.
Dropbear, everything that's happened so far has been fair.

Graffitists, inducing myself, obviously find the rewards of doing graffiti outweigh the risks, otherwise they'd either be naive or they just wouldn't do it.

Im mostly disappointed I have to wait so long before my court sitting. When I get a study break I look into moving it sooner.

    10. sighmon (45 months ago | reply)

woah ankle.. email me all the details and a scan of the charge report thingy and i'll get my gf onto it for you.

dropbear: so you use street art for your photos, but don't agree with people doing it?

    11. StolenName (45 months ago | reply)

Damn dude, bad luck on the capture.

    12. KayVee.INC (45 months ago | reply)

3 months until trial?? You gotta be kidding :|

Does that mean a 5 month curfew (since it's only spring now)?

    13. witness 1 (45 months ago | reply)

      Yikes...
So what kind of penalties could you be up for?

    14. ÄNKŁES (45 months ago | reply)

Again, thanks everyone for your concern.
@Sighmon: Thanks so much for the letting others know and everything you've set up today. Ill keep in contact about catching up and working out some plans
@KayVee.INC: My bail, and curfew, is valid until my court hearing in early Janurary. 3 months is a bit absurd.
@witness: We're guessing few hundred muucha and community service (painting over graffiti prolly, hehe!)

    15. tahneetillerman (45 months ago | reply)

crap! that's horrible! sorry to hear it man, hope the date can be pushed forward so you'll be out on the streets spreading the keen joy sooner than january.

    16. dark orange (45 months ago | reply)

Sighmon, don't worry about Dropbear, he is not a fan of street art or politeness. ;)

    17. bradley gaskin (45 months ago | reply)

@sighmon...Hahahaha....You and I are on the same wavelength, that's the first thing I looked for when I read dropbear's comment! I figured he wasn't gonna come back here though so I didn't bother to point it out ;)

Next time just remember those immortal words from the New York City Council:
“Take it from the champs, graffiti is for chumps... make your mark in society, not on society."

    22. Fighting Tiger (44 months ago | reply)

er, i think i spilled the beans to the Mule household! Mish has been so busy with the iron pumping that she was unaware!

I'm back for a bit over a month, I'd invite you out for beer, but I guess we'll have to catch up during the daylight hours!

    23. johnbormann (44 months ago | reply)

I'm so sorry to hear it man, love your work. I remember the first time I heard about your work. My sister told me "Hey! You'll never guess what I saw on my drive in to work this morning... a Commander Keen pixel art!" And then I came across your Flickr.

Great work still managing to take a few pics with your phone of the occasion. You've got guts bro. Hope it all gets sorted out and you don't lose your summer. Good Luck!

    24. nollykin (44 months ago | reply)

Hey man, You don't know me at all but I've been having a great time following your work around town. I'm no graffiti artist but I'm a big fan of "street art" (though don't get me started on tagging :P) - Anyway man, sorry to hear you got busted. It's frickin lame. You do wonder if they have better things to be doing :P

    25. bradley gaskin (44 months ago | reply)

You made the crime section of the city messenger dude :D

    26. ÄNKŁES (44 months ago | reply)

awesome. where can i pick one up?

    27. bradley gaskin (44 months ago | reply)

      Here's a scan of it

      ankle messenger

As for an original, maybe a cafe in the city or the advertiser building...

    28. ÄNKŁES (44 months ago | reply)

      thanks claude.
Im no journo, but i would have figured it would make for far more interesting news if they mentioned they "found three men on the roof...with paint, stencils, a huge bucket of glue and a sweeping broom installing a lifesize image of commander keen".
some people just like their news dry, i suppose

    29. bradley gaskin (44 months ago | reply)

      HeHe, very true :D
I'm pretty sure quality journalism is not a priority for the messenger.

    30. FreakyNami (44 months ago | reply)

Sorry to hear mate, all the best for the proceedings - have to be extra extra careful next time ;)

    31. dark orange (44 months ago | reply)

      Wow - a "Spree".

    32. line.theory (44 months ago | reply)

Well hey, I don't know you at all, but this seems like a very unfortunate situation (and pretty harsh, to boot). Frankly, I don't think graffiti is something I'd ever consider doing, but I would say it adds character to a city and this seems a bit much. Still, as you say, I guess you decided that the risks were outweighed by the rewards?

Good luck with the case - 9 PM all summer? Ouch.

Claude - I think it really depends, because the messenger is actually lots of local papers, the quality probably varies, but evidently this one doesn't seem that Keen on telling a good yarn.

      Again, good luck.

PS: Commander Keen is pretty great.

    33. ÄNKŁES (44 months ago | reply)

Thanks johnbormann, nollykin, line|theory and everybody else for the very nice words.
Ill try and keep my flickr updated with news about my defense, as I wont be pasting anytime soon!

I have been sticking KEENs inside windows facing the street-pretty legal.
Let me kno if you have somewhere for keen, ie office window at work, etc

And if anyone wants to post advice or personal tales of trips in front of the judge, please feel free to add them here :)

Ahoy there. I'm in the process of knocking up an article for Merge magazine about the decline of local street art, and Bloor Court in particular (alleyway off Waymouth, next to the carpark with Koven's big dinosaurs on the roof). You wanna send us your email so I can send back a few quick questions?
Your pixelled Keen is one of the few things that survived the Bloor Court buffing (& camera installation); good thing you kept it above the rapidly-rising, grey 'high water mark'. And considering you were busted on Waymouth (I'd be curious to find out exactly where, but I don't know how much detail you can/want to share about the case), it's doubly relevant. I'd also like to just shoot the shit on art theories, considering you've got a bit of a background in it all.
I'm at metaphorism@hotmail.com if you wanna send me your email addy. You can add me to MSN too if you have it, and we can rap back and forth a bit. Keep it organic.
      Cheers.

    37. wadem (42 months ago | reply)

What a bizarre world we live in. Where someone creating and sharing a really gets arrested and curfue, yet advertisers can rape our eyeballs every which way at every which where.

3 months and I still don't have words. I'm so sorry the world's so messed up Ankle.

If there's anything I can do for or from Sydney, drop me a mail.

      Peace,

      Wade

    38. wadem (41 months ago | reply)

I got arrested today Ankle for trying to cover-up some advertising with a smiley face :).

    39. ÄNKŁES (41 months ago | reply)

That sounds a bit absurd. Were you charged?

    40. wadem (41 months ago | reply)

Yeah, I was charged on 2 counts of Crimes Act 1900, Section 195(1)(a).

Where I was "Caught in the Act", they deleted my work in progress photo and the trailer's gone now. The other bit I did they got me for is this
