How to make REAL Bento

after seeing the pathetic attempts by bingbing and adlaw to make bento, i decided to post my own making-a-bento-box howto:


1. Go to the nearest コンビニ　(konbini, convenience store).
2. Pick a bento from the display, the bentos are usually at the corner farthest from the door.
3. Bring the bento to the counter,
4. The friendly conbini staff will ask you "温めますか?”　(atatamemasu ka?, shall i heat it up?)
5. Say "はい、お願いします” (hai onegaishimasu, yes please)
6. While she is heating the bento on the　電子レンジ　(denshi renji, microwave), get your coin purse and make sure to include all the 1 yen coins you can.
7. Snicker quietly while she fumbles at counting all those coins.

Presto! Warm bento!


(This particular one costs 590yen, about 245 pesos. My eyes are all puffy (sinisitis) and I discovered it's REALLY friggin hard to use an SLR with teary eyes! Shot randomly 2 dozen times before got one that was acceptably focused :p)
