Yazd special |
This set was taken in Yazd, an ancient city at the southern end of the Iranian great salt desert, the Dost-e Kavir. The old part of the city is mainly built from clay and straw, which gives it its particular ochre colour. The city is also famous for its Badgirs - wind towers - which were invented in Iran as an ingenious way to cool houses in the hot climate. Yazd was and still is a centre of Zoroastrianism in Iran.
