Dog Rose, P6070047

Dog Rose, P6070047 by Anita363.
I had originally posted an unphotoshopped version of this, which was duller. Dawn Endico said "this needs to be Photoshopped," & so she did it & sent me these revised versions. Boy, was she right! This one I had been afraid of brightening it up too much because I didn't want to lose the veining & delicate pink blush, but she did it by bringing the white level down & the gamma (gray level) up to compensate, & that did the trick.

Thank you to glenfinlas for help with the ID! Bigger & pinker than multiflora, but smaller & paler than sweetbriar (eglantine). Growing in a sand dune ecosystem, IIRC.

Thanks much, glenfinlas! Yes, Dog Rose looks right, whereas none of the ones listed in my field guide do. And we do have Dog Rose naturalized in NJ.

Glad you liked the new versions! I was on my laptop when i first noticed that you uploaded these shots. There's a lot less difference between the old and new shots there than on my normal 21" crt. Especially for this pic, but I guess the difference in this pic is pretty subtle to begin with.

Also, on this pic, the leaves in the upper right corner were a bit too bright green so in the hue/saturation dialog I chose 'greens' and lowered the saturation a bit.

Interesting. Monitors make such a difference -- we fuss & optimize until it looks right to us, & then it looks completely different to other viewers. I've been using a laptop, so I have no idea what they look like on a CRT (& those can vary so much).
