Cooper Square Hotel Bar out bedroom window. Notice clothesline

Peck Moss own the entire block of Bowery between 5th and 6th Street. But they fought the neighbors to build their outdoor bar (and grand entrance) amidst three tenement buildings. It is 19 inches from this bedroom window. And now guests get to look at a clothesline full of underwear.
