i have my fourth or fifth 40GB clickwheel (4th gen) iPod now. When AppleCare runs out, I don't plan to pay to keep replacing them.

Turns out the 40GB 4th gen has the highest failure rate of any iPod in existence, but I'm not sure that replacing it four times in 18 months was part of Apple's plan.

I'm still convinced that the issue is that they're continually replacing them with refurbished ones, which just perpetuates the problem. (Of course, this comes from me, having had to replace my 40 Gb 4th gen iPod four times too...)
