Even though I have yards and yards of floral-themed fabric, I was inspired by an old set of polka dot sheets I had around (old sheets make fantastic aprons!). I wanted to make a pretty and functional apron for gardening, so I came up with this. The base is a pillowcase (white with blue dots), and the front section is a big pocket made from some linen scraps with embroidered polka dots. I added a smaller pocket on top from a swatch of denim, and detailed with some patchwork blue and white flower print and a little cotton floral trim. The result is a sturdy apron with generous pocket space just ready to be filled with fresh-cut flowers...as soon as spring arrives!
