'Ayrfield' & 'Mortlake Bank' wrecks in Homebush Bay

In the foreground is the SS 'Ayrfield' 1911, formerly SS 'Corrimal', on various harbour duties in Sydney, and also a '60 miler' collier taking coal from Newcastle, NSW to the Miller terminal in Blackwattle Bay, and also the Australian Gas Light Company works at Mortlake, NSW. Scrapped in 1972..The ship now supports a magnificent mangrove colony. Now dubbed the 'Floating Forest'.

The 'Mortlake Bank', in the background, was a ' 60 miler' collier also taking coal from Newcastle, NSW to the AGL Co works at Mortlake, NSW. The ship of 1375 tons, was built by Swan Hunter at Wallsend, England in 1924 and scrapped in Oct 1972.
