Nice re-creation! I like how your hair, the
watch, shirt, glasses and wall are all
neutral colors and your skin isn't. How
difficult was it for you to get this shot?
Heh. I actually changed my shirt so that it
would be more neutral.
If I weren't the one in the picture, I think
it would have been pretty easy to get the
shot. Technically, it's pretty
straightforward. The only adjustment I had to
make after the basic framing was to use a
smaller aperture to get more of the photo in
focus.
The hard part was composition. Standing in
front of the camera, arranging the shot,
shooting, going over to look at the result,
going back in front of the camera,
positioning myself slightly differently...
I was trying for a few specific things,
compositionally, and I feel like I only
partially succeeded.
I wanted to get the rubber band to form a
line from my eye to the viewer. However, it
turned out that that foreshortened the rubber
band until there was no sense of
"stretching".
I also wanted to show my rear arm pulled
back. The framing didn't really work for
that, though.

It's my 18-200mm lens. But maybe I should have used my 50mm, since it's so close to 50mm anyway. Might have been a tiny bit sharper.

I like how your forward hand is slightly out of focus. It draws the viewer's eye up the rubber band, and to your eye.
