Olympic advertising from Bow Flyover

On the A11 in east London (Bow Road), just to the east of the traffic island containing Bow Church, there is a monstrous road junction, where the A11 meets the A12, the Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach. At this point, the Bow Flyover carries the A11 soaring above the traffic below, and at the time of my visit, on July 25, 2012, just before the Olympic Games began, it was already closed to traffic. Bikes were, amazingly, exempt from the ban, and so, with no traffic (an unheard of experience, except, perhaps, on occasions in the middle of the night), I was alone on the flyover, and able to take my time soaking up the scene. This was the view looking down on the sliproad and footpath, with giant billboards advertising Olympics-related products, the Olympic Stadium behind, and the Lee Navigation (the canalised River Lea) to the left.
