Vapour patternsrings In italian theese vortexes are called "trecce di Berenice"
This photo has alsorts, reheat, jet wash, contrails and a rather good sectional view of the condensation build up across the wings of this F/A-18. Also notice the 'rings' within the contrail where it breaks up. This pic would have done well in one of my Uni textbooks on aerodynamics. Best viewed large to see the detail in the water vapour.
