do you know the game "Call Of Duty
4"? it is a first person shooter which
has a level that features this hotel as a
shelter for you, a sniper who has to kill a
man that is dealing for weapons just outside
the nuclear power plant. actually the hotel
and the nuclear power plant are about 3,2 km
far, but in the game this distance is only
800 metres. after you kill him you have to
get out from the hotel and reach the Ferris
wheel where a helicopter will pick you up,
passing through some famous places of prypiat
such as the swimming pool. they are very
close to the real town! this is the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKaBORQkMVI
i hope i did not bore you with this little
story! sorry for my bad english.
I'm aware of the game but didn't know it was
set there! My guide told me that they'd had
a launch party for Stalker: Shadow of
Chernobyl in the administration building (in
Chernobyl town) not long beforehand.
yes, i've already played Stalker but i
couldn't reach the level set on the town on
pripyat, it's too hard. call of duty is more
arcade and easier. i know that stalker is even closer to the
real town than c.o.d. because it is all about
chernobyl and the lands around it, c.o.d. is
a modern war game that even features other
places as the middle east.
Played Stalker . Just finished it yesterday ,
so was checking around for pics related .
The developers have really made it pretty
accurate . Pripyat is at a very important
section of the game , and I remember this
hotel building , specially that semi-circle
architecture . I remember there being snipers
hiding behind the centre , behind the pillars
, behind which lies some grafitti .
Very interesting a place . I'm too far away
to wish that I get to see it for real someday
but i can hope right .
Great photo btw . I'm a bit sad I cant get a
larger version , since I like archiving good
pics like this of urban/industrial landscapes
.
