Photo of USAirways Crash & Rescue, by Janis Krums

Photo of USAirways Crash & Rescue, by Janis Krums by andycarvin.
Janis Krums (jkrums on twitter) uploaded this pic from his mobile phone while on a ferry in the Hudson River today. He sent it to twitpics but the site is crashing so I'm uploading a backup to flickr.

Of course they used it. What would be surprising is if they even offered to pay a licensing fee...

It's called fair use and go figure, even MSM can fall back on that 'excuse'. This is a perfect example of correct fair use (if they credit).

Welcome to the real world.

Of course not - I don't own it. Like I said above, Janis uploaded to twitpic but the traffic was so high the server was crashing. I uploaded it to Flickr so people could still see it. Tons of news services ran it immediately while Janis was still inaccessible on the ferry.

then I think the newspaper I saw it in ran it illegally simply because they one used it commercially and two ran it with out attribution.

if you want I'll send you a scan.
