The Mouse That Knows No Fear

    Newer Older

This is a photo taken by researchers at the Sakano Lab in Japan, where they have been researching the connection between fear and smell. This particular mouse comes from a line of mice that were genetically modified to block a particular olfactory receptor. In this case, it's preventing the mouse from making the connection between the cat and fear, so the mouse plays with the cat rather than running away in terror. "But before taking the picture, we had to feed the cat," the lead researcher told Reuters.
