I promise I'm not exaggerating when I say he's about 6 inches tall.

I would agree with IzzyNomad.
The Golden Orb spiders are wide spread in South East Asia & Australasia. Generally they are BIG, but mind their own business, unless you walk into their web, of course.
Nice shot too! I have a photo of a different kind of orb spider I took in Queensland, when I used it as a desktop, it grossed people out!
