How did you get the uptime meter there? New feature from Time Capsule owners?

    4. Trancepriest (51 months ago | reply)

I think that works only with Airport Express Base Stations.

      Jeez. 270? I'm getting 48 currently...

Although my TC is STILL doing the initial backup of the iMac. Been going since yesterday morning. Might seem really long, but considering it decided to restart nearly halfway through it, its a bit more reasonable.

      These Capsules get HOT.

Hey my 802.11n NAS wireless network is set at 5GHz only.... that may explain the speeds. It's a 802.11n only network for devices like my AppleTV and MBA. How is yours configured? Is your iMac 802.11n?

      78mps for me - 270 is ridiculous!

Is your network in mixed mode with 802.11b/g/n devices?

    9. michaeldrosenberg (51 months ago | reply)

Mine is set to b/g because my PowerBook and Core Duo iMacs arent n capable.

I just found out that the uptime status is only showed up if you use PPPoE thingy. I have DSL, but not PPPoE dialing.

O' I didn't know that... thanks for the info.

hurricane, I've found away around that, I've plugged in a AP express into my AP Extreme and set that to a new network then have the non "N" machines jump on that.

dwdmguy... great solution... thanks for posting that. I may pick up one of the new 802.11n Airport Express for a guest room with an Apple Cube. Figure I'll plug it into the Airport Express via Ethernet and connect it to fast wireless speeds. I'm not even sure what the speed of the card is inside the cube... I have a feeling its 802.11b.

dwdmguy, yea I just decided to grab some more ethernet cords and connect the AEBS back up and run a seperate b/g network.

Feels kind of dumb having only one device on the n network though...

      Awesome stuff!!

I'm about to throw my TC out of the window. I can't get it to work seamlessly the way I was hoping. I got it to back up everything, but it was so slow internet-wise compared to my old AEBS. Now I've messed with it and now I can't even get my PowerBook to connect to the internet.

I really hate this product right now

Update: Decided to hardwire the iMac to the TC, turn off the Wi-Fi router on the TC, plug in my old AEBS into one of the router ports and run my Wi-Fi network from it and extend the the AEBS with my AE. Maybe I got a lemon, but my TC sucks as a Wi-Fi router compared to my old AEBS.

I'll just run it like this until I have more N capable devices
