Novatel U727

Novatel U727 by Trancepriest.
The Novatel U727 is a CDMA EV-DO (Rev. A/0), 1xRTT (800/1900 MHz) with a USB interface. The card is GPS enabled (satellite for outdoors and triangulation for indoors) and also comes with integrated microSD slot which supports cards with a current capacity of up to 4GB.

I've had this card for a few days now using it with the MacBook Air and have been regularly receiving download speeds averaging around 800kbps. It's quite capable of sustained download speeds above 1200kbps in good locations. Upload speeds are usually around 300kpbs. I've yet to install any decent GPS software. I'm looking into running Microsoft's Streets & Trips in Parallels.

Sounds promising and looks good. Certainly Vodafone and 3 are advertising this sort of thing at present and if I was away from home more, I would investigate the costs.

Definitely lots of features to these cards. The Rev. A roll out alone of EVDO has tremendously improved the data rates. I had a Rev. 0 card back in 04/05 and the speeds were very slow compared to my new card.
