Oh Andie, what beauty. The old DC-3 that was designed in 1939, and will be around long after we are dead and gone.......
The workhorse of WWII, no question about it.
In its day it was the ONLY passenger plane that could fly over the Rocky Mountains with a full passenger load - on one engine.
Thank you for sharing!

Hey Andie:

Absolutely gorgeous photo and aircraft!!!!!!

That 21 MP Canon is awesome!!!!

My Dad flew these out of Chicago for United Airlines during WW II!
Most of his runs were out west to Denver and points in between!!

When I worked at an airport in TN we used to have DC-3s that came in as cargo flights. One of the pilots always had stories about flying these things (I think because he was cursed) but I do remember him telling us that unless they blew 3 cylinders in one engine they kept the plane flying. He told us that the day after he made an unscheduled landing at our airport for 5 blown cylinders.

One of my favorite airplanes. When my father started work at Kodak in 1953, Kodak's corporate plane was a DC-3. Times have changed, but the DC-3 is still a great plane!
