District #2

"To those from the District of Columbia who gave their lives in The Great War..."

This is an isolation of the District of Columbia World War I Memorial.

This is an absolutely stunning structure which sits on the National Mall just a few steps away from both the Korean War and WWII Memorials. However, it's tucked in the trees and nobody really seems to know it's there.

Pity. It has an understated elegance and great beauty.

Additionally, the National Parks Service is supposed to maintain it, and unlike everything else on The Mall, it's rundown and in need of repair.

I guess it's no surprise that the federal government is dis'ing DC yet again...

Love the detail of the different colors on the dome.
