Fremont Troll

    The Fremont Troll lives under the base of Aurora Bridge in Seattle Washington. He was sculpted in 1989-1990, and clutches a (real, original) Volkswagon Beetle in his left hand. This is one of my favorite works of public art, just because it's so out-of-the-way and unexpected. Our first Seattle apartment was two blocks from the troll, but like any native we never visited him while actually living in the neighborhood. Seattle, Washington. December 2006.
