Sewing with my gems.

Kelly has us all sewing with our gems. Since you can't take it with you, I decided I'd go ahead and dive into my small Heather Ross stash for a cot size quilt.

I'm going to do a few different projects for thhe My Precious QAL. Have you joined in?

I've got some original FMF, Heather Ross, Munki Munki, rare Japanese and even some Liberty (which got clipped out the photo). And I'm not even going to keep it for myself! Have I gone mad?

This is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! How brave and generous and lovely of you to cut up all your gems and then give them away!!
Someone is gonna just love this!!!

The grey and white is an older print from "Come Quilt With Me" by Pat Yamin. The blue and white was Oliver&S/LieslG. I think it was City Weekend, though I might be wrong on that.

These colors are so great together - you have a good eye!

I'm almost embarrassed to admit how long these have been sitting together waiting to be sewn into something. And happily, I have more of many of the prints though I did use the last of a few of them.

I've backed it entirely in Mendocino fish and now it's just waiting for binding. I don't have any big enough pieces in my house to bind it though. If C lets me have the car in the morning, I know exactly which shop I'll head to for it!

this is just beautiful and all the more special made with those treasured pieces...I'm not sure I could give it away tho if I was you!

I should have been more clear. I'm not giving it away. I'll be putting it in my shop when it's done. I'm going to try to build up a little inventory again of toys and quilts. I'm working my way through my stash as I do. Why own all these great fabrics, if I don't sew with them?

Very nice combo ...I must use more of my gems.

Wow - the whole thing is backed in fish? That is a lot of fish fabric - nice! Can't wait to see it when it is all done!

It is so hard to convince myself to just USE UP my HR prints. I have such small pieces of most of them because I didn't know about HR when I first started quitling 2 years ago and most lines were out for a while before then anyway. Seriously tho, I need to just learn to let go, make projects I love, and be ok with not having MORE of everything :)

These are 7" finished charms, sort of between a charm an a layer cake, I guess?

Thanks everyone. Let me tell you, it felt so good to use these in such a beautiful simple way. I think I've gotten overly competitive with my patchwork. I forgot how much I enjoy simple. Hopefully I can get it bound on Monday!
